U.S. Consulates in India Resume Services for Limited Visa Processing

The U.S. Consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata and the consular sections at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi will begin processing F-1 student visa applications on a limited basis on August 17. The Consulates will first process emergency F-1 visa appointment requests received prior to August 12 and then offer public appointments. Prospective students and exchange visitors should schedule an appointment no more than three weeks prior to their class start date.  The Consulates are expecting appointment slots to be filled quickly.

These Consulates in India will continue to remain closed for routine immigrant and non-immigrant visa services. There is no visibility as of yet on when the services will resume.  An applicant for H-1B, H-4, L-1 and L-2 categories covered by the Presidential Proclamation (imposing the entry ban) should request an appointment only if he or she qualifies under the exceptions of the Proclamation.
