Schedule Consultation

Indians can now apply for their U.S. Visitor visas at the Consulate in Frankfurt

The wait time for visa appointments for Indian applicants seeking U.S. B-1/B-2 visas is less in Frankfurt than the lengthy wait times we see at the U.S. consular posts in India because the consulate in Frankfurt has set aside dedicated non-immigrant visa interview slots exclusively for Indian applicants. As of now, the waiting time for a B-1/B-2 visa interview appointment in India ranges from 441 to 607 days, while Frankfurt offers appointments in just three days.

This is a very welcome initiative as in addition to the long wait times Indian applicants have encountered technical glitches when scheduling non-immigrant visa interviews through the new portal.

The U.S. Embassy and its Consulates in India issued approximately 880,000 non-immigrant visas between January and June 2023, reflecting a 46% increase in visa issuance compared to the same period in pre-pandemic 2019. To address the backlog, Indians have been allowed to apply at the U.S. Consulates in certain third countries.  Although there has been significant progress to reduce visa interview wait times in India, the U.S. Government acknowledges that more efforts are needed to expedite the process.

The U.S. Government emphasizes that India is a top priority, and has introduced other measures to reduce wait times, including additional staffing and remote processing options.
