FAQs

What does the visa rejection under Section 214(b) mean?

A 214(b) visa denial under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) typically means the applicant hasn’t shown convincing ties to their home country.

How does one overcome a 214(b) rejection?

Provide new, compelling evidence of ties outside the US to demonstrate that the applicant intends to return to his home country. This could include personal ties such as your family, upcoming marriage etc. Or professional ties related to your work, children’s school engagements, your assets and investments etc.

What does a visa rejection under section 221(g) mean?

A visa refusal under section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) means that the consular officer determined that the applicant was not eligible for a visa. This can happen for a number of reasons, including:

  • The applicant doesn’t have all the required documents for their interview
  • The consular officer needs more information
  • The applicant leaves out requested documents
  • The application is incomplete
  • The Consulate may wish to complete a background check on the applicant
