Restrictions on India’s Medical Visa for Pakistan

A Medical Visa for India is available to foreign nationals desiring to seek medical treatment in recognized hospitals and medical centers in India.  The initial duration of the Medical Visa is up to one year or the period of treatment, whichever is lesser, with a maximum of three entries during the one year.

It has been reported last week that India’s Parliament was informed that in cases of foreign patients from Pakistan, a letter from Advisor to the Pakistani Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs would be required for obtaining a Medical Visa.  The Indian government has not imposed any restrictions on Medical visas for nationals from other countries.  Requests for these visas for urgent medical cases are expeditiously processed and in some cases the medical visas are issued the same day.
